Club Info 

Mission Statement:

  • The objective of the Silent Electric Flyers of San Diego is to promote and further the technology of electric powered R/C aeromodeling: encourage competition in Electric Soaring, Pylon Racing, FAI-F5B/D, Scale, Old Timer, and Pattern Electric categories by hosting major Industry sponsored events and sanctioning “Fun-Fly” types of contests; provide forums for the exchange of technical information, instruction and experience; and participate in demonstrations of electric propulsion in area wide model aviation events.

Monthly Meeting:

  • Held on the fourth Tuesday of each month (no meeting in December) at 7:00 PM. Meeting room is at the Air and Space Museum's auditorium.
     
  • Directions from Interstate 5 South:
     
    • Take the 10th Ave. exit
    • Turn left on A St.
    • Turn left on 12th St. (which becomes Park Blvd.)
    • Turn left at President's Way (you are now in Balboa Park)
    • First left into parking lot. Follow road through parking lot to rear of Air and Space Museum. Walk upstairs to auditorium.

       

  • Directions from Interstate 5 North:
     
    • Take the B St. exit
    • Turn right on Park Blvd.
    • Turn left at President's Way (you are now in Balboa Park)
    • First left into parking lot. Follow road through parking lot to rear of Air and Space Museum. Walk upstairs to auditorium.
       
  • Directions from Interstate 163 South:
     
    • Take the Park Blvd. exit
    • Turn left at President's Way (you are now in Balboa Park)
    • First left into parking lot. Follow road through parking lot to rear of Air and Space Museum. Walk upstairs to auditorium.

Flying Site:

  • The Flying Site is located off Interstate Freeway 5 on Sea World Drive just one mile east of Sea World
    • Enter at the South Shores II boat ramp driveway. 
    • Turn right into dirt parking lot. 
    • Look for cars on north side of Sea World Drive

Field Rules:

Membership or Subscription:

  • SEFSD Full Membership: (includes flying privileges and requires proof of AMA membership)
    - Adults over 21; $45.00 per calendar year (1/1 to 12/31).
    - $45 renewal fee for returning members regardless of time of year.
    - $45 for new members regardless of Month Paid.
    - No grace period for membership renewal; membership due January 1st each year (like AMA).
    - No free membership for anyone including Officers and Board Members.
    - Additional Family Member and Individuals Under 21; $10.00 per calendar
    year, (1/1 to 12/31).
    - All membership rules subject to change by Board of Directors
    - For Subscription Only to Peak Charge: $25.00 for 12 months worth (club membership not included).

  • Full Membership application must include a photocopy of current AMA card.
     
  • Membership will be activated upon receipt and confirmation of AMA membership. A current year field frequency pin will be mailed under separate cover.
