This year’s Arizona Electric Festival took place Feb 6th-9th in eastern Phoenix. This is one of my favorite events of the year. I highly recommend it. It is about 5-6 hours driving, depending on where in San Diego you live. Electric anything is encouraged. There are drones, helicopters, prop planes, jets, and a few oddities that defy description. At lunch time on Saturday, they usually do some exhibitions and gaggles. There is a pizza dinner on Saturday, followed by night flying.
This year had gaggles for GeeBees, those large Eflite T-28’s, WW2 planes, and an EDF gaggle. The latter is a broad category, and so there were about 13 participants….with all of them needing to land at the same time. I flew a 2 meter fiberglass 120mm EDF in the gaggle, which was stupid. But it worked out. I landed with about 8 other planes on the runway, but — no runs, no hits, no errors.
This scratch-built Concorde flew great. I am told it was the builder’s second attempt, and the first one didn’t work out well.

A nice 120mm Viper.

This is a 130mm Top RC Odyssey running on 16S, flown by Lou Silva.

Here was a nice Golden Age racer….

…and the same plane 5 minutes later

This was during the T-28 gaggle. There were 6 planes, but I’m not as skilled as Frank, I never got them all in the same picture.

Adios until 2027!
