President’s Corner for Mar – Apr 2026

We’re already in the spring season, and we’ve had some nice weather lately. If you haven’t renewed, and want to fly and enjoy SEFSD, or just to support your great club, do not delay. My treasurer tells me we are 20 – 25 members below where we want to be in order to maintain the current level of fun that we are having (ie: prizes, food, trophies, etc). We have the best deal in town, and in order to keep membership prices low, we rely on a large membership base to spread out the costs.
This year, I’m encouraging the board, and club members, to try new things, and bring improvements and fresh programming to SEFSD. You saw the new fundraising game Jim hosted with foam darts and the bucket that was wildly successful. You saw the artificial turf at the east end of the field for gliders. You may be seeing improvements to the roto-plex if we find a group of members that want to adopt the area to maintain it.
The New Member Safety Checkout/Orientation form has been circulating, and I’m glad to see people collaborating to get that done online. While ideally, I’d like to have a copy of that for every member, we’re prioritizing those brand-new members that are not familiar with the field rules. I also want to remind members that our club does have an incident reporting procedure. Anyone who causes an injury must report it to the AMA as soon as possible. The AMA will then notify the appropriate board of directors.
Any questions or comments, you know how to reach me.
